Sears Roebuck (Roebuck was from Lafayette) and Montgomery Ward’s brought up-to-the- minute items to the rural areas. They sold everything from socks to houses. They opened the gate for rural folks to be as fashionable as New York or Philadelphia folks. Several Sears homes remain throughout Lafayette. Since the 1970s small town storefronts have been boarding up their windows, but one of the last remnants of Main Street America, the thrift store, remains.
Some of the businesses I had were out-and-out financial disasters. Others became very lucrative. Most, though, just allowed me to make a decent living. This is the striking Prince of Peace Church, built in 1965 when the Spanish-founded city of St. Augustine turned 400 years old. To the left you’ll find a sweeping bridge that makes a beautiful photo opportunity. Underneath the bridge, the waters of the picturesque Lagoon amble along.

Make small cardboard games for each child. Cover the cardboard with clear contact paper or get them laminated for a small fee at a local printer. Use packets of stickers for games needing markers. A pack of colored circle office stickers is cheap. Remember to clean up after yourselves in the car, plane or train. Here are ideas for some games.
